What is true independence?
Meanings vary when we ask what's freedom? I believe, it is personal perspective bonded with years of tradition, feeling and emotion. My freedom changes from time to time over the years, for instance, freedom as a teenager meant staying up late and being able to hang out with my friends and party.
My freedom now is a blend of what I choose to do with my time to garner the desired outcome specific to my goals created. Even deeper than that my freedom is dependent on me and NOT the government. Look, I am free – we are humans. We can for the most part, virtually live anywhere we see fit and secure for our family. We can stabilize, economize and maximize just about anything we wish. I choose America. I choose growth.
America is a place my family chose for me. I made no decision to come. I only choose now to stay here and once I did that; my freedom now depends on me.
The definition of Independence is:
“Freedom from outside control or support”
“The quality or state of being self-reliant”
Going even deeper now... Self-Reliance defines as:
“Dependent on one’s own efforts and abilities”
It is safe to say then, that independence in a true comfort killing stance means – “The state of being in control through one’s own effort and abilities.” Abilities can be learned but effort on the other hand comes from within.
Each day I get out of bed I write in my journal –
- I earn $83,333 monthly.
- My freedom date is 1/1/17
- My mission in life is to teach millions how to get uncomfortable – to think better, act better and live better
No one can take my goals and targets away from me. This is what makes me FREE! I choose to surround myself with performance feedback. I read books because knowledge is cheap. I model successful people because I duplicate greatness and I write my goals down because they allow me to always remain in control.
I used to fuss about the government and policies. I even used to waste time researching stupid conspiracy theories – losing myself in hours of wasted mind aggression. Doing nothing to control my life.
Today – On independence day, I was interviewed on The Game Changer Podcast, hosted by Michelle Dutro. This is an important day in my personal history and it has got me thinking a lot about freedom, independence, control and mindset. It also has got my spirit feeling alive and full of energy needed to continue and conquer my targets.
I want each of you to make a decision today about your own history and development. I want each of you to make FREEDOM a journey within, instead of believing it is external of you!
Yeah, yeah, yeah – You live in America and you are FREE. That’s not the truest of sayings. Honestly, I know many people who live in this great country on this beautiful planet that are not free. They are living in a make belief mind state, unaware of how much they are un-growing, out of control and in mystery. We are too dependent on commonality and familiarity – too comfortable for our own good.
There was a conversation my family was having yesterday at a BBQ I hosted here in my home. They were talking retirement. Great topic. I listened.
One said if she gets $3,000 per month, she would retire now but she would rather stay another 3-4 years to ensure her pension can pay close to that. This is not living.
Another agreed, “3,000 would be great” - I jumped in and told them what my current financial goals are and my beautiful aunt turned and asked my “Why do I need that much, what do I have to pay?” - I want independence.
I want way more than that auntie, but I will start with there. Then as conversations shift to tiny house on HGTV – I left the room. I left because I realize that I was about to break a cycle and tradition, I was at the dawn of something they cannot comprehend. I am at the birth of a new uncomfortable, rebel-ish, unimaginable space. It was then that I realized how perfect of a time it is to build this company. It is why… we can go for freedom or we can go for it all!
Remain uncomfortable,
Stacy Cross
