Everyone who actually makes something of themselves, who lives with fire and earns their success, they're living on purpose. Purpose isn't some mystical quest; it's your intention, your objective. It's the damn reason you breathe, act, and create.

After I kicked a heavy gambling addiction, I was lost. I thought I needed to "find my purpose." I wanted to know how I could change the world. But I realized something crucial: I’d been fighting an uphill battle against pain, stress, and all the standard societal programming. I just wanted to be free.

Freedom Ain't Free Until You Earn It

Freedom? That's the payout for living totally on purpose. Look at Mother Teresa, relentlessly helping those forgotten. She woke up on purpose every damn day to live free. Freedom isn’t just about breaking chains; it’s the power to create new experiences, to smash through the self-imposed barriers holding you back. Overcoming my addiction? That was my freedom. Those invisible shackles unlocked. The pain? Gone. Instantly.

But then what? The pain was gone, the addiction was gone, and I had all this newfound time. What the hell was I supposed to do? I had no purpose! That’s when it hit me: most times, when you're looking for something out there, you need to start looking in here.

Your purpose isn't lost. It's hiding from your bullshit.

It's time to dig it out.

1. Face Your Demons: What Scares You Most?

Write it down. What makes your stomach drop? What fills you with dread? What brings about fear?

How does fear tie into purpose? I was terrified of public speaking. My stomach churned before rapping, praying I wouldn't forget my lines. But what really gripped me? The idea of success. I was taught to be humble, to be content, to just be grateful. Work hard, retire quietly. Settle. So, yeah, I was scared of winning. Anytime I got close, I’d find a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. I'd quit. I'd blame the people, the industry, whatever lie I could cook up to fall back.

What are you falling back from? Look at that first. Analyze it. Are you genuinely afraid, or are you just afraid of winning?

2. Dig Through Your Past: What Made You Light Up?

You’re probably thinking, “Stacy’s off her rocker now.” Books? High school? Yeah. Our early years, before the world tried to break us, hold value. I used to write full-blown scripts for plays. I’d lose myself creating movie scenes in my head. The books I loved? They didn't just entertain; they made me think, made me feel. We dismiss adolescence as “childish,” as if it didn't count. “Too young to know anything, but too old to play with toys.” (I loved playing with toys.)

Go back. To that younger, freer version of yourself. Curious. Interested. What occupied your time? Maybe volunteering, reading comics, watching your mom cook, building cars, learning computers. Whatever it was, write it down. Reminisce. It feels good to go back. Your purpose is sitting there, waiting.

3. Shout Your Truth: Who The Hell Are You?

Do this exercise right now. No excuses.

Shout out to yourself three affirmations. They can be anything. But you need to define who YOU ARE.

  • I AM __________________
  • I AM __________________
  • I AM __________________

Don't just think it. Say it. Out loud. Some people will say, “I AM RICH!” Hell yes, you are. You said yes to life, yes to being, yes to love. You’re already rich.

4. Write Your Own Damn Obituary

Yeah, I said it. It's that time. You’re dead. People are at your funeral. They’re reading your obituary. What will it say? What have you done with your life? Anything of substance? Or just a bunch of excuses?

5. Ask the Brutal Truth-Tellers: What Are You Good At?

Go ask 3-5 people what your strengths are. Not what they like about you. What do they love? What do they genuinely think you’re gifted at? These aren't compliments; these are insights. This is your gift. Your purpose is the real you. No additives, no corporate jargon, no political correctness, no bullshit ideas rammed down your throat. Just you, a free soul in life.

Your purpose helps others. It makes the world less of a dumpster fire. It can be done with joy, easing pain, stress, and struggle. You have a gift we all need. Get that through your head.

Your purpose is already inside you. You’ve just been blocking it, making excuses for it. It might be grand, it might be scary, it might demand some serious internal work. But the whole damn point of your purpose is to create a better life for YOU! And with that comes better experiences, real joy, and genuine happiness.

Don't sell yourself short. Being on purpose elevates everything.

Kill the comfort today

  • Stop planning, start doing: Pick one thing from this list. Just one. And execute it today. No more thinking, just action.
  • Cut the excuses: Identify one comfort habit you use to avoid confronting your purpose. Delete it from your life, starting now.
  • Speak your truth: Tell someone close to you one raw, honest thought about what you believe your purpose might be, no matter how stupid it sounds. Vulnerability is a weapon.
